Doors Reopened?

The storm has passed

The floods have regressed

I have pulled up the remnants

And built myself up again

By myself

A knock on the weathered door

A familiar face appears

It lights up the room

But also dims the day

It's changed

I survived

I persevered

I made it through the storm

Without you

And that is my strength

But what if you were meant to come home?

What if the storm was meant to be survived alone?

You apologize

You weep

You plead

You should've helped me through the storm

And that is your weakness

Your face is warm

And familiar

But just because I

know it

Does not mean it is safe

We stand here

In the doorway

Face to face at last

But I have to ask myself

Should I let you in?
