Why do we stress so much about gifting?
Some argue that our society is now materialistic and purely object based.
We spend money on objects to give to people to hope to make them feel something.
What do we want them to feel?
Do we want them to feel loved, listened to or cared for?
Of course we do.
With some quick clicks of a mouse,
And five minutes of wrapping,
We can make someone we love, feel loved.
We aren’t giving the gift of an object,
We’re giving the gift of thought.
Of listening.
Of love.
And I don’t think there’s anything materialistic about it.
